PATCHING
R & R (NOT REST & RELAXATION)
Patch paving is R & R (removal and replacement) or digouts of failed asphalt. Every parking lot or driveway has or will have certain areas that fail faster than other areas, due to heavier vehicles using the site, the base under the pavement failing or the amount of turning or braking that traffic does, etc. The typical solution for this is to simply remove these failed areas and replace them with slightly more asphalt than what was there originally.
CRACK FILLING
CRACKS ARE JUST PLAIN UGLY
Because cracks are the most lethal problem a pavement can have, cracks must be filled to prevent water infiltration and protect the life of the pavement. We only use Hot-Applied Elastomeric Compound. We found this rubber compound best for Western Canada's colder climates. This product is elastic, remains flexible at -40° and won't break or crack. Plus it is ready for traffic within minutes and will not track, pick up or bleed.
OVERLAYS
OVERLAY/RESURFACING
Resurfacing an area involves the placement of one or more asphalt overlays on top of existing pavement. A hotmix asphalt overlay can include a leveling course to even out the pavement surface and a second uniform course to provide the necessary thickness. Resurfacing in parking lots generally requires only one overlay.
INFRARED
IT'S TOASTY AROUND HERE
A seamless, thermally bonded restoration where an asphalt pavement surface has been reheated to over 300° F, the same temperature as new asphalt manufactured from the plant (no burning of the oils that bind it all together). The softened asphalt is then scarified and re-shaped and compacted. The result is a permanent patch with no weak points, no cracks at the joints, no water penetration to ruin the patch.
SPEED BUMPS
HUMPS AND BUMPS
Speed Humps are large traffic calming devices used by municipalities and homeowner's associations to reduce speeding and cut through traffic on streets. Speed Humps are usually 12' deep.
Speed Bumps are narrow traffic calming devices used in parking lots to protect pedestrians. Speed Bumps are typically 18" deep, 3½" high and painted white or yellow.
CATCH BASINS
CATCH BASIN REPLACEMENT/REPAIR
Almost every parking lot has a least one catch basin (CB), but when was the last time you looked closely at it? If your lot is more than 15 years old there is a good chance the catch basin may need some attention. Many CBs are held up with bricks that were never mortared in place so the bricks come loose and collapse and need to be repaired or replaced.
