USER
INPUT DEVICES
The
computer receives most of its input from the user via the keyboard.
The keyboard is connected by a cable to the keyboard port on the back of
the computer. Beginners should take an elementary computer typing course
to learn about the extra keys on the
computer's keyboard. There are keys such as <CTRL>,
<ALT>, <F1>, <HOME>,
<END>, etc., that are not found on a normal
typewriter.
Another
common source for user input is the mouse. The mouse
is connected by a cable to the mouse port on the back of the computer.
Some new models are wireless -- they send infrared
signals to the computer like the remote control for your TV or VCR.
Initially, it takes some practice to get accustomed to using and moving
a mouse. The mouse normally has two buttons on it to control various
selections. It takes time to learn what each button does and when to use
each. |
