ADITA Video Inc. are twin brothers, Myron and Malcolm Achtman. The brothers
graduated from McGill University in 1970 with Geology degrees and worked in the
oil business in Calgary for 12 years. Meanwhile, they pursued their hobby in
photography, improved their skills and did some professional photographic work.
How about joining in for an interview with them?How did you come to start ADITA Video
Inc.?Myron: ADITA Video Inc. is the most recently established division of our main company, ADITA Enterprises Inc. which was incorporated late in 1982 and has been operating successfully since that time. What does ADITA
do?Malcolm: Besides video production and desktop publishing, one thing we do is manufacture a photographic product. Creativity struck in 1981 and we invented and patented a new darkroom device, called the SUPER-PROOFERTM. With our own determination and funding, our product emerged in 1984 and continues to be sold and exported today. Myron: I took a liking to the computer, and my
skills are mostly self-taught. I wrote a basic inventory program called
What's Our Worth?, and designed custom programs for
local window manufacturers. From our early computing days on a VIC-20, we
graduated to the powerful Commodore AMIGA. With its Professional Page software
we can generate quality desktop publishing. Today, we also use Pentium PCs for
non-linear editing (NLE) and multimedia authoring.With numerous past accomplishments and more to come, you can see why
the name ADITA, an acronym for Achtman
Does IT Again, is very
appropriate. Besides their abundant creativity, the Achtmans have a great sense
of humour. They believe in the work ethic and in maintaining meticulous quality
in everything they do.What's your
secret for success?Myron: A major reason we are competitive is that we have kept our operating costs very low. One video production we made cost our customer 10 times less than he was quoted elsewhere. He was very pleased with the job we did, and sent us a highly complimentary testimonial letter. Why have you created your new
company,ADITA Video Inc.? Malcolm: We believe that we are very talented in the areas of photography and computers. What better way is there to use our skills than in the two areas we enjoy the most? In addition, we provide our clients with valuable input in marketing and selling. Many companies will benefit from what we can do for them, because we not only do it well, we enjoy doing it too - and that's powerful. |
